| The masks are made in a
traditional manner, as in Italy, Switzerland and France. I sculpt each design
in clay and then cast a negative mold into which the paper mache is laminated
for drying. I use archeval quality 100 % cotton paper and wheat paste. After the paper mask dries I patch any areas which are not smooth and then prime it with gesso. The final painting is done in highest-quality acrylics followed by a light acrylic clear coat inside and out for protection. |
