Annie Hallatt was head puppet maker for The California Christmas Revels for the 2000 season. A theatrical and participatory holiday tradition, The Christmas Revels celebrates the Winter Solstice by blending traditional music, dance, ritual, and folk plays from various religious and ethnic cultures.
Portrayals of Madonna and Child from Spanish, Italian, Romani, Tibetan, France, Swiss and Jewish traditions. The performance was a story based on the beneficent images of the Divine Feminine.
The Christmas Revels started nearly three decades ago by singer, author and music educator John Langstaff and his daughter, Carol Langstaff in Cambridge, MA. This past December over 70,000 people around the country attended Revels performances in 10 different cities - 13,000 in the Bay Area.
